Learn How to Speak Chinese Online For Free…With These 43 Movie Clips

I took a famous Chinese movie, slapped some helpful subtitles on it (including Pinyin), then broke it up into 43 scenes with accompanying lessons.

This movie is rated 18+ and it not for children. It is set in Beijing, China, and includes topics such as blackmail, prostitution, rape, forgery – all the essential elements for an interesting movie, right?

To no surprise, this film was also banned in China for a number of years.

I, however, believe a movie like this is great for learning Chinese. Not only will you learn basic Chinese conversational skills, you will also learn about controversial subject matter which can then help you with having conversations with Chinese people on a deeper level. You will also learn about the not-so-glamorous (but still quite interesting) aspects of modern-day China.

Please don’t think I’m “putting China down” for showing a movie such as this one. I’m not. I suppose I’m simply interested in things you don’t see or hear about everyday.
